Engineers Tips:

  1. Always get your boiler serviced annually to ensure it is running safely and efficiently. This is also a good form of preventative maintenance as problems can be identified at an early stage and rectified avoiding a potentially costly and inconvenient breakdown at a later stage.
  2. Your central heating water should be clean and chemically treated to reduce corrosion. A large percentage of boiler breakdowns are caused by ‘dirty’ system water. A system containing high levels of magnetite (rust) has metal particles in it and is acidic. These particles can cause blockages in pipe work or your boiler and can cause circulating pumps to fail over time. The acidic water can also cause problems by attacking rubber and plastic components in your boiler.
